    keyword=Fast Raster X vs. W

    In order to investigate a horizontal offset at the target, the dependence of the position of the invariant mass on Fast Raster X was examined. Assuming that the width of the raster was 2mm, the following shifts in W were found.

    E (GeV) Theta(deg) dW / 2mm (MeV)

    4.210 12.00 0.24
    4.210 16.00 0.53
    4.210 28.00 0.38

    5.246 12.00 0.27
    5.246 14.00 0.31
    5.246 15.99 0.40

    3.779 12.00 0.40
    3.779 14.01 0.57
    3.779 16.00 0.72

    4.709 14.00 0.21
    4.709 15.80 0.85

    In order to observe an offset in the invariant mass of 2 MeV it follows from the table above that a relatively large horizontal offset would be required. Until such a large offset can be justified, it can be concluded that a horizontal offset at small angles does not result in a 2MeV offset in the invariant mass.
