Aug. 24 Owl shift summary
SL: C. Furget
Target: M. Muether
Guests: S. Williamson, Brian and Fatiha (at phone)
Highlights
- Stable beam (RMS(A_BCM1)~280 ppm, halo3~20, RMS_LUMI~250 ppm)
- Problem on detector asymmetries and LUMI asymmetries (between run
30658 to run 30668)
- The new fan blower has been disconnected (not certified "parity
quality")
Thank you to Steve W., who was initially there for his target
training, for his strong support/help during the shift.
Thank you to Brian and Fatiha for their patience even when there were
awaked in the middle of the night.
Time-line
- 00:15 : When checking the asymmetries, Matt has shown a problem
on the detector asymmetries and LUMI asymmetries starting at run 30658.
Turn off the cooling fan installed yesterday 2 hours before the problem
arises.
- 01:45 : Steve W. has found a shift in temperature given for the
three sensors installed upstairs during the time the fan was ON.
- 04:15 : After run 30671, turn off all the electronics racks
- 5:00 : Recovery of all DAQ. We had troubles to recover Meantimers
of Oct3 and 7 and NA coincidence matrix (see entry).
- 5:30 : The problem seems not to be solved completely. Indeed two
small peaks (symetrical around zero) were observed on the charge
asymmetry and four peaks on the LUMI detectors. These peaks are visible
when the beam is OFF.
- 6:00 : We found that part of the structure observed on the LUMI
detectors is much more visible with no beam. This looks like a baseline
drift from time to time.
- 6:15 : After discussing with Brian, we decided that we should
continue to take production data and take the opportunity of the beam
study to investigate more precisely this issue.
- 7:35 : I removed the extension of the ribbon cable going from the
FR CER CFDs to scalers to investigate the double gaussian distribution
(see P. Pillot entry).
Run list
- 30668 : LH2 production, 60 µA (stopped after 20 min)
- 30669 : LH2 production, 60 µA (the new cooling fan has been
turned off and replaced by the old one)
- 30670 : LH2 production, 60 µA (the new cooling fan has been
turned off and replaced by the old one)
- 30671 : LH2 production, 60 µA (the new cooling fan has been
turned off and replaced by the old one)
- 30672 : JUNK
- 30673 : LH2 production, 60 µA (after rebooting all the
electronics racks)
- 30674 : JUNK (no beam to check the LUMI problem)
- 30675 : LH2 production, 60 muA
- 30676 : LH2 production, 60 muA
