Went on a hunt to try and understand the oscillations and yield drop seen in the md and lumi detectors.
lower current on 2% DS from 53 to 30: still there
beam off pedestals: no oscillations, so not ADCs/DAQ
power cycle all rocs and ts: still there, not modulation
0.5% C: no oscillations
recheck at low current on 2% DS: oscillations present
go back to the 1.5 mm offsite in target centering: present, but not as bad
So I think we spent 3 hours verifying that there is a problem with the target. Paul just called and suggested taking a raster map of this target, which we will do.
Even if we ignore the yield oscillations, we cannot run asymmetry on this target because the position sensitivities are horrible. The oscillations may not contribute to increasing the asymmetry width (just increases from statistics having dropped by 30%), but the position sensitivities in X got REALLY bad.
