During run 13793 (which was a crappy run anyway) I played with cavity
bcm gain settings in monticello screens. The attached first three
figures (fig 1, 2, and 3 for different current settings) show that the
displays of newly set parameter screens at different current values
ranging from 12 uA to 151 uA. My expectation is that we
would never exceed the "Magnitude" from 32,767 value which
corresponds to the saturation value, even if we go to 180 uA.
May be Trent Allison can comment on this gain setting scheme by looking at
the "Magnitude" values for various currents as shown in the
first three figures. The new parameter setting will be effective
for run 13794 and onwards.
Other last four figures show the history of "Magnitude" for bcm5
(IBC3H04AMAGA), bcm6 (IBC3H09MAGA), bcm7 (IBC3H04BMAGA), and bcm8
(IBC3H04CMAGA). This morning around 8-12 AM, we can see that
bcm6,7,8 "Magnitude" value exceeds saturation
(>32,767). Beam current never exceeded 150 uA that time (according to archiver).
This did not happen to bcm5 though, which was speculated as a
saturating one! Anyways, after I set the new
gain values, things look good, "Magnitude" stays well below the
saturation value and it's roaming around 20,000.
