Revision as of 07:49, 5 July 2022
Current Status
- Accelerator status:
- Accelerator has only reliably been able to deliver 43uA of beam over the long weekend
- Will limp along long like this until tomorrow
- Maintenance day scheduled tomorrow - will hopefully improve things
- No beam from 07:45
- Experiment status:
- Over the weekend, eventually finished data taking for the Q2=6.00, W=2.40, x=0.55, high ϵ settings
- LD2+ right setting was skipped due to time constraints
- Currently running Q2=6.00, W=3.19, x=0.39, high ϵ data taking, centre setting - Pion form factor point
- Progress is slow, ~500 pions an hour (53k target)
- Rotation to right setting (5.65 degrees) requires an access
- Can go to left setting first if timing for this is not favourable
- Over the weekend, eventually finished data taking for the Q2=6.00, W=2.40, x=0.55, high ϵ settings

Notices in Effect for Shift Crew
- Please pro-rate ABU for max current limit in run plan (uA) in beam time accounting. For example, if we receive 15 uA instead of the max_current_limit in the run plan, then the ABU should be: ABU_prorated = 15/(max current limit) * ABU
- Check the HMS/SHMS rates for when production starts, since for Heep coin. production SHMS saw higher rates. Make sure shift crew takes snapshot of scalers at every setting
- When analysing LD2 or Al dummy or LH2, please leave the target_mass_amu in the standard.kinematics as that of the proton, but when analysing the data with the pionLT script, specify the target used, as different targets will have different ranges in the cuts when integrating the missing mass peak. Refer to log entry: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4005387 These instructions are given in the pionLT run plan.
- Keep an eye on HMS DC chamber wire maps.
Current Issues
- SHMS Q2 LN2 levels > 100% - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4011096 - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4011133
- Follows highly anomalous behaviour overnight
- Water leak from AC tank on the HMS carriage - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4010916
- Target fan readback - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4011073 - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4010720 - Target fans read 0 Hz - Are actually still running though (target seems fine)
Planned Accesses to the Hall
- Maintenance day tomorrow
- Requested sweep and drop to control ASAP once beam is gone
- Fix SHMS Q2 LN2 levels - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4011096 - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4011133 - Access needed?
- Need to address water leak - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4010916
- Target fan issue - Blown fuse in tachometer - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4011073
- HMS hut - Laptop needs resetting (not urgent) - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4010673
Planned Accelerator Configuration Changes
Special Requests
- Reset laptop in HMS hut - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4010673
- Rotation to right setting (5.65 degrees) requires an access
- Can go to left setting first if timing for this is not favourable
