H(e,e'p) Check and Aluminum Dummy Run Instructions
Overview:
The plan is to take SHMS singles with Hydrogen target first, and then with Aluminum dummy target. The runs should be ~1-hr long, until expected accumulated charge is achieved. Please set the HMS/SHMS angle and momentum settings accordingly. See Kinematics Sheet.
Once the angles/momentum for each spectrometer are set and the target is in place, set pS1=0 (SHMS 3/4 TRG), and ps2-ps6=-1 in the DAQ Gui. Keep an eye on the rates, and make sure NOT to exceed 2500 Hz, so we can keep the computer live time > 90%. In case the singles rates exceed this limit, set the value on the 'target rate' box to 2500 and hit Enter to automatically set the pre-scale rate accordingly.
Instructions for Start/End of Run
1. Start a Run. We will be taking roughly 1-hour long runs, for which you'll need to keep an eye on the time.
NOTE 1: In the comment box at the star of run, please write the target type, HMS/SHMS Angle and momentum settings.
NOTE 2: Permanently open the standard.kinematics file to keep track of the kinematics for each run. If you are not already in the hallc_replay directory online, login to cdaql1 machine and go to hallc_replay directory: > ssh cdaql1 > go_analysis > emacs UTIL_ED/offline/DBASE/COIN/standard.kinematics &
It is important to keep this file up-to-date before replaying the run.
2. In the middle of the run, once enough statistics have been accumulated, execute the 50k event replay scripts for each spectrometer
to monitor the detectors. Run the following replay scripts from the main hallc_replay online directory:
for SHMS detector check: ./run_coin_shms.sh <run_number>
for HMS detector check: ./run_coin_hms.sh <run_number>
3. At the end of each run, execute:
>./run_full_heep.sh <run_number>
Once finished, a window with some plots will show up, along with an emacs window with the relevant quantities to keep track in the Run Sheet. Write these quantities in the run sheet, and check that the histograms make sense.
