General updates

Monday Swing – Tuesday Owl

  • 4PM to 10PM production data
  • 10PM beam down
  • 7AM beam back, taking data

Tuesday Day

  • 9AM down again to replace chopper amplifier causing beam instability [1][2]
    • Video of beams on chopper blinking [3] (mostly B, but also visible in A and C)
  • Controlled access from 9 to noon
    • Survey [4]
    • Steve and Andy went down to check out SHMS Q3 at 9:15.
      • No fixes today. Need to replace the valve, which will be ~8 hours.
      • Thursday? When we replace the target cell in a week?
    • Brad rebooted PSU
    • Larry (with RadCon) grabbed some tools at 11:00
    • Joe Beaufait went down at 11:45 to take some pictures for a talk on infrastructure ("water, power, yada yada yada")
  • PD Update at 1PM [5]:
The 24v power supply to the 429MHz chassis in the Injector was found to have a
3v ripple. A spare power supply was found but the pin out was different and
needed to be changed. Once the new power supply was installed, the chassis was
not putting out sufficient power. The chassis has been removed to place on the
bench for alignment. I have no estimation on a time to repair/align the chassis.

Once beam is back (I will edit the run plan with more accurate times)

Future

Moller & spin dance

  • Spin dance will be part of beam studies. No word on when it'll happen, other than when the PD schedules it.

Hall Access

  • Thursday morning
    • EPR fiber bundle, maybe laser alignment
    • SAF112 walkthroughs with Joe at 9AM on Thursday
    • SHMS Q3?

Other

  • Replace target cell in ~1 week

Special Requests

  • Keep target expert schedule filled out on whiteboard

Notices in Effect for Shift Crew

  • Policy for CANS-related hall status change: Make a logbook entry when the hall goes in, or comes out of laser-controlled access.
  • Magnet policies
    • Spectrometer GUI (go_magnets) should always be visible on Shift Leader computer, hcdesk3
    • HMS Q1 must be ramped down in 50A steps in all cases
    • Do not ramp HMS Q2 to zero, only go to 10A and then switch off power.
    • If SHMS dipole trips again, take a screenshot of the PSU window before resetting the interlock and post it to hclog.
  • Inform the RC of any access that the Target Team requires. The RC will coordinate with RadCon to make everything run smoothly.
  • The operators have been somewhat careful with our beam orbit locks. Please make sure that the orbit locks are enabled and the beam does not drift from its nominal position.
  • Ramp rate lock instructions are here and added to checklist[6]
  • Temporary Laser instructions can be found here [7]
