Revision as of 09:33, 30 June 2022
Current Status
- Accelerator status:
- Pretty unstable beam through swing and owl
- Limited to a max of 30 uA
- NL woes overnight at around 05:30
- Will be down through day today (and probably into swing) due to lots of ongoing accelerator work
- Day SL on call
- Swing SL show up as usual, RC will contact if this changes
- NL breaker replacement
- BLM 8E02 investigations
- More RF work
- Day SL on call
- Hall D reported very unstable beam overnight too
- Possible energy loss in NL? Causing beam loss in arcs
- Experiment status:
- PionLT continues to make progress on run plan, though we are still behind schedule, unless Ops is able to deliver 80 uA at >50% efficiency
- On page 91 of run plan ~30% of LD2 data collected. Dummy data taken for this setting. Current Setting: Q2=3.85, W=3.07, x=0.31, high ε, SHMS left data taking.
- Due to beam quality, several runs during swing had very unstable beam (at various currents, sometimes various currents within a run)
- These runs aren't junk, but have been excluded from the total
- Drift chamber noise is still absent in latest runs
- When we're back this evening, check YAG/HARPs
- C-hole? Probably not needed?
Current Run Plan
Notices in Effect for Shift Crew
- Please pro-rate ABU for max current limit in run plan (uA) in beam time accounting. For example, if we receive 15 uA instead of the max_current_limit in the run plan, then the ABU should be: ABU_prorated = 15/(max current limit) * ABU
- Check the HMS/SHMS rates for when production starts, since for Heep coin. production SHMS saw higher rates. Make sure shift crew takes snapshot of scalers at every setting
- When analysing LD2 or Al dummy or LH2, please leave the target_mass_amu in the standard.kinematics as that of the proton, but when analysing the data with the pionLT script, specify the target used, as different targets will have different ranges in the cuts when integrating the missing mass peak. Refer to log entry: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4005387 These instructions are given in the pionLT run plan.
- Keep on eye on HMS DC chamber wire maps.
- Contact Brad S. before next spectrometer rotation (HMS or SHMS) unless (OWL shift)
- Given current progress, this is probably going to be tomorrow day/swing
Current Issues
- BCM gains and offsets need updating https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4007884 https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4008646
- Multiple HMS Q1 interlocks in the past 24 hours (5 that I know of)
- As an example - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4009015
- Needs investigating? Steve L has been tagged in posts, I'll call and follow up
- HGC pressure fluctuation?
- Simona noticed it's at -1.72 now, I recall it was -1.69 last I saw it, nominally it's meant to be -1.47 - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3998616
Planned Accesses to the Hall
- Ellen wants to take a look at the Q1 and Jixie wants to sort out a cabling issue with the SoLID detector. I'll arrange a sweep so we can drop to controlled.
- Arranging with Radcon now, I'll keep people posted
- Unless needed, will close up again ~16:00 (I'm expecting beam at ~17:30/18:00 unless we hear otherwise)
Planned Accelerator Configuration Changes
Special Requests
- Contact Brad S. if rotating SHMS at a decent hour
- Prepare maple syrup and saskatoon pie in anticipation of Canada day tomorrow
