Past 24 hours
In the past 24 hours, we completed the Moller measurement at 14:30 (1.5 hours ahead of the schedule) and resumed the data production at kinematics KinC_x36_5. The spokespersons agreed to change the NPS spectrometer to a slightly different angle for the remaining cycles of kinematic KinC_x36_5, (30.69 deg in the standard configuration it was at 28.417 deg), at this nonstandard setting the corrector coils can be turned off. Thanks to MCC, we verified that this was the case and continued with the production.
Overnight was a smooth production. We collected 1 complete cycle plus LD2 + LH2 data of the 2nd cycle (we have enough dummy and DAQ calibration data to support the analysis).
As planned at 9:30 a.m. today, we started to change to the new setting: KinC_x50_4. Current setting theta_HMS -5.253 GeV, SHMS_angle =31.747 deg, and the HMS angle = 16.917.
11:00-14:40 a.m., we had a DAQ-related issue, many thanks to (Wassim, Chandan, Bob, and others) for finally fixing these issues. see details here: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4210759 , There was also a SHMS sensor clitch that caused an overflow, Heidi was very fast to remotely resolve the issue: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4210989
Current Status
- Production
- RC summary: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4211111
Current Run Plan
- . We will likely postpone the Monday corrector coil beam steering test, to the next setting change, since the current setting doesn't require the corrector coil.
- . Wednesday, November 2, 7:30 a.m.: sweep the hall open for maintenance first thing in the morning.
We will attempt the following maintenance items:
- . NPS students remove/replace damaged PMT/base.
- . NPS shielding installation if ready
- . Ellen and Heidi for Cryo component check?
- . Chandan (and Dave Mac) checking/maintaining HMS hodoscope. to address this issue: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4210267
- . Do the DAQ experts need to do something?
I am sure the maintenance list will grow as we get closer to Wednesday.
- . Tuesday, November 3, 11:00 a.m.:
We will invite Vald to give an insight into the high radiation test results.
There will be a meeting tomorrow to discuss a few remaining questions and decisions:
- . Adjust the triggers/running condition at the current setting.
- . Final decision on Monday corrector coil steering study.
- . Maintenance day planning.
- . Potential report from Vlad on the radiation damage study.
A few new/raised concerns:
- During the DAQ Coda configuration changes, the instruction is very unclear if a "RESET" procedure is needed. We need to make the wiki instructions clear on this part. Because of this ambiguity, we potentially might have lost 1 good run on this.
- Part of the run plan requires changing settings, and beam current, frequently, as a result, the run sheets are not completely filled.
- DAQ crashes during the run-ending process, in this case, the Run End log is not generated. It is not clear how to keep records for such runs
