We started Friday Day shift (09/29) in Controlled access to repair dead NPS channels. The repair was completed around 11 am and now both problematic channels are fixed (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189240). Then we proceeded to our last elastic setting.

We got beam late Swing, followed the beam checkout procedure and proceeded to the third and last elastic setting (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4188925).

There wasn't much beam during the rest of the Friday Day shift (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189168). During the Swing shift the beam was unstable, too (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189555). The accelerator is still unable to deliver beam to Hall A without tripping BLMs. Delivery to Hall C is fine, but the troubleshooting of Hall A is impeding delivery to us (see https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189370 and https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189538).

When we resumed data taking, it became apparent that there is a dead channel in the NPS calorimeter (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189069), so it was decided to make a quick access to repair the channel. The repair took longer than expected and wasn't successful, so the problem still persists (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189167). Our attempts to fix the channel overlapped with the accelerator issues, so the beam was not available for the rest of the Owl shift (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189087).

Overnight we took about a half of our last elastic setting. Taking into account that we still need to take the rest of the elastic data and that the dead NPS channels have to be repaired, it was decided to reschedule the move of the calorimeter to Monday (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189173). Today we will fix the NPS channels, then take the rest of the elastic data, and then proceed with the KinC-x50-2 optics data (Sweep Magnet off and on) (less than 2 PAC shifts). We will take additional elastic data as time permits.

At about 4am MCC gave up delivering to Hall A and we got stable beam towards the rest of the Owl shift (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189574). We were able to complete the last elastic setting at around 9am and now changing configuration to proceed to optics measurement.

Summary

We started Friday Day shift (09/29) in Controlled access to repair dead NPS channels. The repair was completed around 11 am and now both problematic channels are fixed (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189240). Then we proceeded to our last elastic setting.

At about 4am MCC gave up delivering to Hall A and we got stable beam towards the rest of the Owl shift (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189574). We were able to complete the last elastic setting at around 9am and now changing configuration to proceed to optics measurement.

The accelerator plans to continue troubleshooting issues with the beam delivery to Hall A and puts it as the highest priority for now. For this reason, it is unlikely that we can expect stable beam over the weekend.

There will be no RC meetings over the weekend.

Run plan

Accelerator status

The accelerator plans to continue troubleshooting issues with the beam delivery to Hall A and puts it as the highest priority for now. Stable beamdelivery to Hall C over the weekend is unlikely.
