Summary
Yesterday (03/04) we did NPS setup change for the new kinematic setting KinC_x25_4. We went to Controlled access early in the morning and the work in the Hall commenced (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4259689). In parallel, Bob Michaels and Hanjie were doing some scalers tests for the DAQ (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4260659) and Julie and the students were troubleshooting bad NPS channels (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4260683 and https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4260885).
We went back to Beam permit in the second half of the Day shift, checked rates on LH2 and LD2, and proceeded to production in KinC_x25_4 kinematics. We are going to stay in this setting up until the pass change on March 11th.
We took data smoothly overnight with a few minor issues that included DAQ errors and a fan frequency drop for loop2, which was addressed by the expert (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4261313). Also, for the past week we had a few weird encounters of sudden drops in the target heater power that recover by themselves (the latest was overnight https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4261277 and the following logentry is from last Saturday https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4259365).
Around 8am HMS dipole and Q3 tripped again (which again happened a few minutes after both Hall B magnets tripped). At the moment, both HMS magnets have already recovered and Dave Gaskell is doing the Moller measurement.

We will have an RC meeting today at 11 a.m.
Planned Access to the Hall
For this reason, Hall C will go to Controlled access tomorrow. We plan the following work in the Hall:
- Hanjie -- DAQ work.
- Heidi and Ellen -- HMS dipole work.
- Josh -- temperature sensor troubleshooting.
Accelerator
Tomorrow during the Day shift the accelerator plans to do some maintenance work first (valve repair, for about 2 hours) and then to do beam studies (for about half a shift), meaning that there will probably be no beam for about a shift or so.
Current Run Plan
- We are in KinC_x36_4, NPS angle is 11.200 deg and NPS is at 4 m.
- Short-term run plan: https://hallcweb.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/Short_Term_Run-Plan
Current Issues
- Hanjie was concerned that some NPS crates have relatively higher fan temperatures (~95F). We put box fans for those crates. We also asked Facilities if they can lower the AC set point from 68F to 65F (was done on Wed 02/28).
- For the past week we had a few weird encounters of sudden drops in target heater power that recover by themselves (the latest was overnight https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4261277 and the following logentry is from Saturday 03/01 https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4259365).
Future plans
- Tuesday (03/05): Moller measurement from 8:30am to around 2-3pm.
- Wednesday (03/06): Accelerator beam studies + Hall B Moller measurement (?).
- Sunday (03/10): taking elastics data.
- We will stay in KinC_x36_4 until the pass change on March 11th.
