RC meeting and Run Plan, Monday Oct. 15

Status

• Beam quality: noon update Bottom line:
  • Once MCC realized they couldn't deliver 37uA, we ran smoothly on 35uA
  • We are down for beam studies to increase current to the Hall (ETA until swing)
  • Hopefully will have more current available afterwards...
  • Expected to be down again tomorrow for RF recovery

Issues: Resolved

• HMS dipole and Q3 lost current during swing
  • Correlated with peaks on the warm water return
  • Happened when Hall A were heating up their target --> probably the root cause
  • Were down for 80 minutes

• HMS Dipole LN2 fill level very high
  • Added during RC meeting and Run Plan, Thursday Oct. 11
  • Seems like JT-4 is unstuck again, maybe related to magnet issues from last night? LN2 levels are stabilizing in the normal range.
  • Andy Keyton will attempt quick 5-10 minute fix tomorrow during RF recovery to prevent this from happening again. (He'll replace the motor).

Issues: Requiring attention

Ongoing

• SHMS at small angle
  • (Might) need new limits on diffusor ion chamber if we run above >=50uA (Jay Benesh confirmed might be the case), more info here.
    • Added during RC meeting and Run Plan, Thursday Oct. 11
    • MCC aware of issue, might still come up during luminosity scan
  • Be wary of DC trips!
    • Added during RC meeting and Run Plan, Friday Oct. 12
    • During luminosity scan, SHMS DCs might trip at higher currents (1MHz+ singles rate)
    • If we can really reach high current --> be ready to disable SHMS DCs when rates get too high (still want HMS data at those currents).

Request (non-urgent)

• RadCon wants to put a small detector in the SHMS hut during the next opportunity
  • Needs few hours, communicate with Brad when next opportunity arrises
• Hall D needs opportunistic 1shift of HallC down for beam studies, not pressing right now (needs to be done before end-of-run)
  • I told Hall D there might be an opportunity when we switch aerogel trays for the next experiment

Plans - Physics

• Conduct for 1-2 shifts for luminosity scan starting this swing shift
  • Tentative run plan
  • Ryan agreed to help as third during swing, and Richard will help as third during owl if needed
• Expect another downtime tomorrow during day for RF recovery
• Run 2-3 more shifts with Q2=5.5. W=3.02 x=0.40 theta_Shms=6.49 (real shifts, excluding scheduled downtime)
  • Currently collected 23% of statistics + Al data in 3 shifts
  • Switch sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday to the next point
