- Yesterday (12/18)
- Shortly after (12/18) Owl shift started, there was another PSS communication failure and Hall C suddenly dropped to restricted access.
- The tech on-call wasn't able to restore the system.
- The expert arrived at 8AM and made hardware replacements.
- Hall C back to beam permit at 12:30 PM.
- All hardware related to communication interface in the hall has been replaced. Radiation damage is the suspect.
- Smooth running on Setting 2 of high x HMS 35 degrees until beam was taken away at 7am as scheduled.
- A bit more than half of Setting 2 is complete.
- Shortly after (12/18) Owl shift started, there was another PSS communication failure and Hall C suddenly dropped to restricted access.

- Is there any work that needs to be coordinated by RC today?
- (I don't think so)
- No Hall C meeting today.
Notices in Effect for Shift Crew
Current Issues
- Beam Energy Measurement
- I was assured at the 8:00AM meeting today that they are taking the incident seriously and are still investigating.
- Doug mentioned that they are considering reporting it as an "incident" to the DOE in part due to all the equipment damage.
- PSS issues.
- Should be fixed now with the new hardware.
- BUT it seems very wired to me that the failure mode is to drop to restricted access.
- Unser
- Front end electronics suspected to be damaged from the radiation from the beam energy measurement.
- (Might be a good idea to find some evidence of this with the scalers).
- Dave Mack has been coming up with a plan to debug it and will work on it before we come back in January.
- Front end electronics suspected to be damaged from the radiation from the beam energy measurement.
- Radiation Damage in general.
- We should be on the lookout for other hardware that may have been damaged by radiation.
