Hall C Weekly Meeting - November 12, 2012

  • Presentation concerning Personnel Safety Systems Integrity (slides)
  • Have been several recent incidents of PSS systems being negatively impacted by (planned) work around the lab, including Hall C.
  • Please keep PSS systems in mind as you plan your work.
    • Walk the area
    • Follow cables and conduits to make sure they are not PSS related
    • Check electrical panels for PSS and RadCon circuit breakers
    • Use work planning tools (ATLis, HCList, etc.) ( After meeting Andy Kenyon added PSS people to HCList)

  • More SOS removal work
  • This week working on getting back off of SOS
  • Lifting plates attached to SOS doors

  • Discussed repair of PSS equipment damaged by the Great Flood with Kelly last week. ODH system verified in January 2013. Work on "submerged racks" will start Early 2014.
  • Beamline receptacles will be off tomorrow for electrical work (more flood aftermath).
  • Hoffman duct work may require help from Hall C techs, electricians short on manpower (lost term employees).
  • SHMS liquid cooled leads are in - need to find appropriate storage.
  • Need to put in Facilities request for replacement of power strips on racks (again).

  • 2-factor authentication on its way for Counting House computers
  • Will be limited to computers actually running CODA or other slow controls
  • No apparent change if you are sitting in CH (mostly)
  • Talk to Brad for more details

• From Narbe Kalantarians
  • Closed up one half-chamber of SHMS drift chambers and adding electronics.
  • Flowing nitrogen through it now - might apply voltage soon.
  • One more plane has been strung.
  • All the planes are in hand and are plan to start stacking another chamber.

  • 12 GeV Project completion deadline has been extended to December 2016. Note that this is the deadline for overall project completion - not planned completion date.
  • Hall C "ready for beam" still planned for Spring 2015.
  • Q1 delivery estimate holding steady for last couple months at Feb. 2014.
  • FRIB taking over management of bender construction. Overall, should be good news for the project. Delivery estimate May 2014.
