  • Taking data at night with SHMS, working on the HMS Q2 power supply replacement during the day [1]


Current Run Plan

  • Holly's optics run at Ep = -5.925 GeV and theta = 13.11 deg with the F2 tune (target: optics 1, collimator: sieve, trigger: ps2 = 0) - 2 hours (over 90 K e- from central foil) DONE

Instructions on how to set the F2 tune from 0 current on magnets:

1) run the following: go_magnets_SHMS_F2 -5.925

2) click Go on MOL first

3) once at MOL click Go on Target


Instructions on how to get the statistics:


1) do the 50 K replay (./run_shms.sh)

2) do root ROOTfiles/shms_replay_production_run_50000.root

3) do T->Draw("P.gtr.y>>h1(100,-15.,15.)") ; identify the central foil and find the cuts you want to use (cut 1 and cut2)

4) do T->Draw("P.cal.etottracknorm>>h2(150,0.01,1.5)","P.gtr.y<1. && P.gtr.y>-1. && P.gtr.dp > -10. && P.gtr.dp < 22. && P.ngcer.npeSum > 2.","")

5) Look for the electron peak

6) do h2->Integral(low,high) (where low and high are the bin numbers)

7) read the number and now project how many triggers you should take to get 180 K of e- from central foil


  • Mark's optics run at Ep = -5.925 GeV and theta = 13.11 deg with normal tune (target: optics 1, collimator: sieve, trigger: ps2 = 0) - 2 hours (over 90 K e- from central foil) DONE


Instructions on how to set the normal tune from lower current on magnets:

1) run the following: go_magnets_SHMS -5.925

2) click Go on MOL first

3) once at MOL click Go on Target


Instructions on how to get the statistics:  : same as above


  • Sylvester's radiator study, same kinematics, normal tune (target: LH2 NO radiator, collimator: "collimator", trigger: ps1 set) - 15 min

1) set ps1 (3/4) such that you have 5 KHz rate

  • Mark's delta scan: fixed momentum -6.3 GeV, normal tune, theta = 16, 20, 22 deg (target: LH2 , collimator: "collimator", trigger: ps2=0) - ~5 K elastics per setting DONE

5) Look for the electron peak

7) read the number and now project how many triggers you should take to get 5 k from elastics


  • F2 yptar scan: Ep = 3.3 GeV, theta = 21 deg, normal tune (target: LH2 , collimator: "collimator", trigger: ps2=0)

2) do root ROOTfiles/shms_replay_production_run_50000.root

3) do T->Draw("P.cal.etottracknorm>>h2(150,0.01,1.5)","P.gtr.dp > -10. && P.gtr.dp < 22. && P.ngcer.npeSum > 2.","")

5) Look for the electron peak

6) do h2->Integral(low,high) (where low and high are the bin numbers)

7) read the number and now project how many triggers you should take to get 450 k electrons


  • F2 yptar scan: Ep = 3.3 GeV with theta = 19.85 deg, 21 deg, 22.15 deg, F2 tune (target: LH2 , collimator: "collimator", trigger: ps2=0)


1) do the 50 K replay (./run_shms.sh)

2) do root ROOTfiles/shms_replay_production_run_50000.root

3) do T->Draw("P.cal.etottracknorm>>h2(150,0.01,1.5)","P.gtr.dp > -10. && P.gtr.dp < 22. && P.ngcer.npeSum > 2.","")

5) Look for the electron peak

6) do h2->Integral(low,high) (where low and high are the bin numbers)

7) read the number and now project how many triggers you should take to get 450 k electrons


  • Sylvester's negative half of J/psi [2]

--> run at the last block of kinematics under "Setting scan" - 15 min per kinematic setting
