To do list in preparation for running

  • General
    • Hall C was locked up around 4-5 pm yesterday
    • Hall C will stay in power/beam permit throughout the weekend unless controlled access is requested by either accelerator or Hall C physics.

As of now Rick Gonzales has made 2 accesses to the Hall (working on restoring signals from the MPS, I believe) - go Rick ☺

On the Hall C side: the magnet group and Mark Jones will not need access until Tuesday (things may change). Jack Segal might make an access during the weekend?

    • Beam steer up to the hall on Monday day shift with SHMS magnets OFF (procedures from Jay are posted here); MCC will be done with this on Tuesday at 7 am. Shift crew not needed in the Hall C counting house until Tuesday day shift.
    • Target cool down and SHMS (and HMS) magnets ON on Tuesday during day shift - Hall C will go to restricted access during day shift on Tuesday.
    • He leak at the beam dump: a constant He purge appears to be effective at flushing the system of air and the system seems to be stable; it's Arne's call whether this is acceptable for low current beam delivery - needs update

  • Target
    • The target scattering chamber was surveyed after HMS was moved to 15 deg on Thursday; no motion of the scattering chamber was detected as a result of the HMS move (got the update from Chris Gould)
    • Dave Meekins says the target scattering chamber vacuum is good enough for running

  • Magnets: SHMS
    • Ready to go
    • Steve Lassiter is waiting for parts to install the second electronic flow meter for SHMS magnet; the parts should have arrived this morning but did not (will be here on Wednesday); does not hinder our running coming Tuesday
    • The Q3 power supply switch can be operated now but by magnet experts only

  • Magnets: HMS
    • Almost ready to go
    • Jack has few things to finish on Tuesday during the restricted access. HMS magnets should be ready by Tuesday swing shift

  • SHMS - detectors
    • Ready to go
