Test experiments at KEK-PS and LNS, Tohoku Univ.

Prototype detectors were tested with unseparated 1.05, 1.2, 1.35 GeV/$c$ beams at the T1 beamline of KEK-PS (PS-T494, Dec 2001; T500, May 2002; T530, Nov 2002).

Production version of the plastic scintillation counters and the prototypes of water and aerogel Cerenkov counters were placed on the beamline (figure 36, 37).

The beam contains $\pi^+$s, K$^+$s, and protons (figure 38) and they are clearly separated with the time-of-flight information measured with our counters. We studied the response and efficiencies of the Cerenkov counters for those particles and also tested the timing resolution of the plastic counters.

The fabricated drift chamber for the scattered electron (EDC) was tested with the $e^+ e^-$ pairs converted from the 1.2-GeV tagged photons at Laboratory of Nuclear Science (LNS), Tohoku University. The momentum of the electrons and positrons was in a region of 200 MeV/$c \sim$ 400 MeV/$c$ which matches to the Enge momentum acceptance.
