keyword=survey ditties part V: electronic life times

Fig. 1 shows peculiar behaviour of the HMS electronic life time for all of our pi+ and pi- production runs (LH2, LD2 and dummy). The colour code is blue for pi+ runs and red for pi- runs. There is a dramatic change in the distribution of electronic dead times around run 17150 (11/19/97). Runs before that are marked with circles, after that with triangles. From the right plot, where the electronic life time is displayed against the rate of events on the S1 scintillator panel. It is apparent that the change influences the life time when the HMS is accepting positively charged particles, but not for negative ones. I couldn't find in hclog what the change was. Anyone?

Fig. 2 shows the same for SOS, including el.L.T versus PSOS. The strong correlation is with the sS1 rate.
