RC Summary
Sunday 02/11/07 Swing
through Monday 02/12/07 Owl
(Larry
Lee)
The RC
cellphone has been handed-off to the next Run Coordinator (Jianglai
Liu).
Acknowledgements:
Many thanks to our shift crews &
analysis workers for
their indefatigable efforts.
Headline
Snippets:
- Stable Production running ("Pion" mode) over most of Sunday Swing
and Monday Owl shifts
(uptime ~ 76
%).
- Sunday Swing shift started with no beam in the accelerator due to
a Gun 2 HV trip and injector vacuum problems. Initially, MCC was
concerned that the Gun 2 wafer may have been damaged, but the problem
turned out to be related to a faulty cable (Gun 3 vacuum) coupled with
an inopportune IOC reboot (which reset the Gun 2 steering lens
Y-stage). After isolating and correcting the various faults, MCC was
able to deliver beam into Hall-C at ~ 18:30.
- Several Production runs with the latches/matrices set back to
"Randoms" mode were taken at the end of Monday Owl shift.
Running
Conditions:
- Target is LD2
- IHWP is OUT
- Beam Current: 35 uA
- Beam Quality: Good. Stable. Halo 3/4 at 18/20 Hz/uA.
- Integrated Coulomb Counts (including "Effective" Coulombs): 51.9
C (IN: 24.5 C, OUT: 27.4 C)
- Coulomb Counts for Pion Running: 5.0 C (IN: 2.9
C, OUT: 2.1 C)
Plans:
Near-term
- Moller and Mini-spin Dance on Monday, Feb.12 (Day and
Swing
shift).
- "Transverse" production data following Mini-spin Dance (likely
part way into Monday Swing shift).
- Feb.13,
Day Shift: Special DOE
tour.
- Resume "Transverse" production data running after MCC recovers
from the special tour.
- Special Randoms measurement tentatively scheduled for Wednesday,
Feb.14.
Longer-term
- See updated "Calendar" attachment at the end of Saturday's
RC report.
- SMS reverse polarity studies tentatively scheduled for Tuesday,
Feb.20.
Issues/Notes:
- Greg Smith will be away from Feb.6 until Feb.13; During this
time, the "Target On-Call" person will be Mike Seely (pager 584-5036).
- Alex Coppens will be the "DAQ On-Call" person for the next few
weeks
(pager 584-5493).
- Transverse running: Paul
King has provided a draft runplan (see
elog 133006).
- Special
Randoms Measurement: Herbert Breuer has provided a draft
runplan (see elog 133044).
- Items for Shift Crew:
- good_for_GUI.pl :
The "comment" field now needs to be completed when cataloging "Pion
mode" Production Data runs (see elog 132986
).
- Hall-A charge feedback:
If Hall-A is taking beam, we should turn on the charge feedback for
Hall-A. The Hall-A IA feedback GUI looks similar to the G0 beamfeedback
GUI and is presently located in a separate workspace on the same
console. (IF the "slopes" have
not yet
been calibrated and entered into the IA Calibration
Constant
field on the Hall-A IA feedback GUI, please
follow the procedure outlined in elog 132913).
- SMS Reverse Polarity Tests: We need to firm up this up in our
schedule.
- SMS field scans, if needed, should be worked into the schedule to
perhaps coincide with (e.g. bracket) the Reverse polarity studies.
