F2/EMC analysis how-to for shift takers Step 2

Once you got 100 k CODA events (100000 CODA events) please do the following:

  ./run_shms_f2.sh <run_num> <statistics goal for SHMS electrons **in K**>
  ./run_hms_f2.sh <run_num> <statistics goal for HMS electrons **in K**>

This will tell you how many CODA events you need to take in SHMS and HMS in order to reach our statistics goal for electrons per kinematic setting. The statistics goal per kinematics (in K) is read from the tables you have in front of you (also posted at: [1] for SHMS and at: [2] for HMS). Please, please pay attention when you type the arguments for the shell scripts.

As an example: ./run_shms_f2.sh 2080 300

(here the run number is 2080 and the statistics goal is 300000 electrons or 300 K electrons, the shells take as argument the number of electrons in K)

You will get the following message on the screen:

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

you are indeed sampling 100000 coda events

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Look here for your desired SHMS electrons: 7344

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

this is 7.344% of 100000 coda events

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

take: 4085 K total coda events for : 300 K electrons

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

You will also see a plot popping up: the blue distribution is all events (with a delta cut) and the pink distribution is electrons only; make sure the electron distribution peaks roughly at 1. If it does not, ask the F2/EMC spokespeople/students to update the calorimeter calibration.

Continue with the current SHMS and HMS runs until you accumulated the number of CODA events you got by running the shells above. We would like to keep the runs under one hour so stop/start a run if you need more than 1 hour to reach the statistics goal for electrons.
