Hall C Weekly Meeting - April 28, 2014

• Walter Kellner
  • Cleaning up in preparation for power washing and filling the SOS ruts in the floor. Also cleaning
  • for delivery of SHMS magnet steel and the open house
  • Helped with getting HMS Q2 ready to cool down
  • Welded caps on G0 lines so they can be stored outside
  • Gas system work in the gas shed is done

  • All but a few panels of the SHMS electronics room floor are installed.
  • Shielding in the detector hut should start this week.

  • The HMS dipole is full of LHe and Q3 is at 117K and cooling down at 0.6K/hour.
• Joe Beaufait
  • Material for the SHMS electrical install is arriving
  • The non-functioning Moller SC solenoid power supply has been found. Joe will diagnose and try to repair the supply. The suspicion is that it is simply a bad Klixon
• Paul Brindza
  • SHMS
    • Assembly of the HB LHe Vessel at MSU is continuing
    • The Q1 LN2 shield is being assembled at SMI
    • At SigmaPhi, the Vacuum Impregnation (VPI) of coil #1 went well. The mold is being disassembled.
    • The winding of the first layer of coil #2 was complete today
    • SigmaPhi started two shift winding
  • Three Moller coils arrived last week. Four are now in house. 3 look OK and the fourth is questionable. Advice is being sought from an outside expert.
  • The SHMS stell will be delivered this week. (Weather permitting)

  • A worker slipped and fell while wearing a booty in the Hall B clean room. The fall required only first aid and was reported to medical services.
