keyword=Thanksgiving run plan - RC update

Here is an update on our run plan through Monday, as discussed at the 3:30 meeting this afternoon in the counting house bull pen. I will hard wire this into the shift schedule with more specific instructions there next, but I think it is helpful to have the overall plan here in one place.

We will have an RC meeeting at 3:30 pm Friday in the bullpen upstairs of the counting house.

1. Weds swing through end of Friday owl:

- only one shift worker (TO) - there will be only one operator at MCC - Hall is in Controlled Access, but we should stay out unless there is an emergency - take a few pedestal runs with MD on; leave MD HV's on in any event - cryo group is reducing the LH2 cooling power Weds afternoon and will restore it at 3 pm Thursday, when Greg Smith is on target shift

2. Friday morning through end of Sunday swing:

a) startup

- back at full shift staffing for Qweak - there will be 3 operators at MCC during day shifts and probably only two on swing and owl shifts - check beam tune - restore high current beam for LH2 production running as follows: beam position: "golden values" specified by J. Birchall current: 140 uA raster size: 3 x 3 FFB ON, and FF ON charge feedback ON Compton set up and running MD-ALL asymmetry widths ideally close to 300 ppm Halo rates "good" a/c https://hallcweb.jlab.org/hclog/1011_archive/101123150751.html - Kent and Riad will be available Friday morning to switch the half wave plate setting and establish that the HC beam properties are ok in the new state. It is indicated as "OUT" currently, so we will switch to "IN" on Friday morning.

b) production data to start of Monday Owl shift

- From 8 am Friday to 00:00 Monday, there are 64 hours. Goal is to spend 30 hours taking production data at each half wave plate setting. This leaves 4 hrs for setup plus a half wave plate reversal in between. The half wave plate would then be switched back to "OUT" sometime on Saturday afternoon, probably around 3 - 4 pm depending on what time smooth running gets established on Friday.

c) low current tests on Monday Owl shift

- Take the LH2 target out at the start of the owl shift - complete the unfinished halo calibration studies from Nov. 24, as prescribed by Mark Pitt's log entry: https://hallcweb.jlab.org/hclog/1011_archive/101124083411.html - spend the remaining 5 hrs or so on Compton electron detector studies at low current - stop at 0700 and call for a survey

d) Monday day shift

- install region 3 chamber safety covers as soon as the hall is open - Hall C technicians will begin work at 8 am to install preradiators on the other detector octants. They will probably work until about 5:30 pm. This work may extend into Tuesday. - D. Mack et al install collimator plug and "swinging shield block" apparatus in region 2 area to prepare for background study when the hall is locked up Monday evening.

e) Monday swing shift

- D. Mack "swinging shield block test" according to write up TBA
